If you get the stop error mentioned above during the boot process or a computer using the NTFS file system, then you've found the right page.
This error is normally caused by a corrupt NTFS partition, although it can be caused by many other things. This page is only going to cover solving this problem if it is a corrupt partition. I had this problem and I tried everything to fix it. The problem is that you need to run the "chkdsk" command to repair the partition.
You can run the chkdsk command using many methods (i.e. from windows, from recovery console, from another computer and from a bootable windows CD ), but every method I tried failed. The reason they failed was because each method loaded the NTFS file system driver NTFS.SYS. Every time that file is loaded it tries to find NTFS volumes on the hard drives and it causes the blue screen stop error mentioned above.
The way that I finally fixed it was by reading this Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=228888 which I found with a little bit of help from http://www.experts-exchange.com. It tells you how to create special floppy disks that allow you to boot to the Windows 2000 recovery console with the ntfs.sys driver disabled. If you run into this problem and need help solving it let me know. I will mail you a copy of a special CD that will help you. You just have to pay for shipping and a little bit of my time.
Keep in fine the cause of this error is often bad hardware (like bad memory or bad hard drive). Test all your hardware and replace parts as needed to prevent this from happening again.
Also, I recommend running chkdsk /f (which requires a reboot) on your PC's and servers periodically.
