I was getting these errors in my event log on Windows XP or Windows 2000:
This is what I did to solve these errors and it seemed to work. From a command prompt delete atapi.sys from your %windir%\system32 folder. Windows File Protection should restore the file within a few seconds. Then while still at the command prompt schedule check disk to run, "chkdsk /f". Answer yes (y) to the prompt that follows. Then make a registry change that will clear your page file on shutdown. Download reg file here

Configuring the Page file for crash dump failed. Make sure there is a page file on the boot partition and that is large enough to contain all physical memory.
